CHEN Yun not only struggled for the Chinese national independence, the country’s affluence, and the people’s liberation and common prosperity throughout his life, but also discussed the youth’s development and work reform problems from multiple aspects, so he was a pioneer of China’s youth studies. By combining with his own experience in China’s revolution, construction and the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy, he raised a series of advanced ideas about the socialist youth’s growth and work and produced a profound influence on the modern youth’s work.This study is divided into the following five parts.The first part: a general introduction is made, including the study background, significance, current situation, and the necessities for demonstrating this study; study ideas, methods and innovative points; the possibility, rationality and significance of this study.The second part: the evolution of CHEN Yun’s youth concept since the reform and open-up. Three different periods(i.e. preliminary formation, enrichment and development, and getting mature and well-improved) of CHEN Yun’s concept of youth as well as the changes are sorted out, and also the conditions such as the times, theory and practice for his concept are analyzed, in order to recognize the development course of his concept from multiple aspects.The third part: the main contents of CHEN Yun’s youth concept since the reform and open-up. These are the key points of this paper. Through a systematic analysis and classification on relevant literature references, the basic connotation of his concept is clearly known, and also its main contents are elaborated, for trying to construct a scientific system for CHEN Yun’s youth thoughts.The fourth part: the main characteristics of CHEN Yun’s youth concept since the reform and open-up. Nationality, pragmatic, pragmatism, contemporaneity, practicality, and inheritance are the main characteristics of his concept. In CHEN Yun’s concept of youth, the youth is analyzed by combining with the practice of Chinese revolution and construction under the guidance of Marxism’s youth thoughts and theory.The fifth part: the enlightenment from CHEN Yun’s youth concept since the reform and open-up. Specifically, the enlightenment from CHEN Yun’s concept of youth on the modern socialist youth education and guidance is introduced. Based on the pursuit of "Chinese dream", the junior party and government cadres and young college students are proposed as the main objects for designing the times strategies of the social youth groups from multiple aspects, advocating the application of ideological and political education to the construction of the social youth groups, and giving a full play to its promoting role in the construction of the great socialist undertakings.In the new century, the concept of ChenYun gives much guidance from many aspe cts for the youth development, especially from the aspect of social action to offer scienti fic guidance. His guidance idea helps establish correct social values. And the youth con cept gives the theoretical support to the people who are in the youth group research wor k to develop the function of theoretical guidance.In this paper, CHEN Yun’s concept of youth not confined to the early stage of China’s reform and opening-up policy is discussed, and it is integrated into the whole socialist construction to analyze its value connotation from different periods and better guide the modern youth to complete the historic mission.
