A Study On Criminal Visualization

The police authorities have accumulated a large amount of data resources with the operation of the Golden Shield Project which has promoted the development of information construction and application. In order to realize the deep and integrated application of criminal data by mining potential and useful information, knowledge and opinion, an enhancement of the capacity to data analysis and visualization is needed.Aiming at the deficiencies in criminal visualization, this paper studies the theory and technologies of criminal Information visualization in view of the public security need. The research work mainly includes the following aspects:(1) From macro and micro perspective, this paper introduces the present research results of criminal Information visualization on theory and application, then analyzes the problems involved.(2) The rules of criminal Information visualization are discussed by analyzing the public security requirement and the data characteristic. Then the criminal visualization index system is designed employing the IST model in the dimension of index, space and time.(3) Based on the characteristics of the data and criminal analysis theory, this paper mainly forces on the visual content, representing method and interactive design of criminal visual analyze combined with geo-visualization and information visualization technologies such as Wordle, story line, parallel coordinate and scatterplot matrices, etc. A series of topic-oriented visual analyses were proposed, including visual analysis based on spatio-temporal trajectory data of serial crime, real-time criminal data, spatio-temporal data of criminal process, criminal time-series statistical data, criminal text, criminal multidimensional attribute data, crime-relative statistical data.(4) Based on the method of multiple coordinated views, an idea to assist users making composite analysis is provided. Tasked with exploring the time-space distribution and change of crime hotspots, crime patterns and their affecting factors, a kind of criminal multiple coordinated views analytic system is designed.
