A Research On The Settlement Intention Of Farmers Who Are Demolished And Resettled Among Urbanization

During the process of urbanization, farmers, who have been demolished and resettled, make a big sacrifice to the development of economy and society. They gave up their houses, lost the familiar living environment and space, changed the life styles and habits they used to, facing both job and living difficulties and adaptation to both psychology and physiology. To realize people-oriented urbanization process and promote the citizenization of farmers, we should make consideration based on the farmers’ need and intension.This article will take the demolished and resettled farmers of Taohua Town, Feixi County as the example. The urbanization process of Taohua Town has been developing and transforming rapidly, demolished and relocated on requisitioned land resettlement work is hard and complex with a large number of farmers involved,which make Taohua’s urbanization representative. The author took a survey of 300 resettled farmers by questionnaire and interview, and had conversation with the staffs of government and relevant departments in charge of the resettlement to obtain the first-hand information which provide data and material support for research.Through descriptive statistical analysis of basic situation of the community, the economic situation, family status, living conditions, interpersonal relationships, and settlement in intention, it is concluded that the level of willingness for the demolition and relocation of the government is not high, satisfaction for the government on the implementation of the resettlement compensation scheme is not high, but overall settled intention is srtong.Besides, there is about 61.6% of people planning to settle down in the existing community for a long time, the percentage of farmers who still want to settle down in the villages and towns in the future is also accounted for 47.3% of the total.In order to investigate the factors that affects the intention of relocation settled farmers, and the influencing power of each factor, this article establishes the multivariate linear regression model. The economic situation, family, life, interpersonal situation are independent variables. settlement intention is the dependent variable. The study shows that the economic situation, family condition have no significant effect on settlement intention, living condition has positively correlated with the resettlement farmers’settlement intention and has certain influence on the settled intention. Interpersonal relationships have significant positive influence on farmers’ settlement intention. The results may be caused by the fact that the current social and economic income level is not the main factors influencing people’s settlement intention, the living environment, supporting facilities, as well as the development opportunities are more important when considering settlement. Meanwhile people wouldconsider the long-term development of the individual and the family. Family types tend to be miniaturized and core, people’s family values are not as deep as it was in the past, but are affected by the deep-rooted "acquaintance society", people are eager to build a harmonious and good interpersonal relations, in order to adapt and integrate into existing life circle easily.In order to guide the relocation settled farmers in the existing community better, and then complete the citizenization. we need to adjust the effect factors of relocation settled farmers’ intentions and put forward feasible solutions, thus improving the quality of their lives and their situation of interpersonal contact. The government should invest and construct more in every field, focus on ensuring high quality of resettled farmers’ lives, realizing their sustainable development, also should take fully use of the core influencing power of community service center, promote the neighborhood communication; scientifically plan the resettlement area, strengthen public infrastructure; expand coverage for social insurance, carry out the social security system; organization skills training, and strengthen employment ability.
