Analysis Of Lord Acton’s National View

The core of Lord Acton’political thought is national view which has experienced a gradual evolution of the development process. This paper using periodic research method by dividing three stages of the ideological development studies the characteristics of each stage of political thought. The three levels of building state system from the theory origin, evolution, the core features, is also the pursues goal of this paper.This article from germination of Acton’s early political thought, transition in the middle stage, to formation of national view in the last stage. Divided into three chapters:The first chapter focuses on analysis of the religious reasons for the formation of Lord Acton’s early political thought, how to understand his religious freedom thought is the key point of this part. What’s more, grasping the transformation of political thought and comparing the differences and commonness of political thought before and after the transformation, all that are contributed to better understand the national theory system.The second chapter: main contents of the national view are the key of the paper, including not only the thinking foundation of national outlook- free, political ideal-constitutionalism, but also the rights realization mode- public opinion, richly and originality.The third chapter: it is a reflection on the national thought. In the old age of Acton, some political theories are more mature, for example, Lord Acton’s reformation view, from a support revolutionary to conservative reformers. Finally introduces his unique view of Christianity national view, which originates in the autonomy of Christianity, forming a Christian patriotism thought, urging national revolutionary development and the establishment of the nation-state.This paper describes the general outline of the formation trajectory of national view, such as the reflection of the revolution, the view of national autonomy, intending to expose Acton’s thought inherent defects and innovation, trying to give readers a true politician-Lord Acton. The conclusion part has summarized the deficiency of this article hoping can continually to study in the future.
