| Labor relations isthe most basic economic relations at current stage and harmonious labor relations is the foundation of social harmony. Since China’s Reform and Opening up bringsgreat changes and adjustments for the economy, China’s labor relations presents many sharp contradictions and the legitimate interests of many workers are violated. The Chinese government has formulated a series of labor laws and regulations to alleviate and protect the legitimate interests of workers. However, the laws are not strict enough and lack of enforcement; therefore, labor conflicts have not been effectively resolved. In the meantime, those workers whose interests are violated take a variety of protest behavior to protect themselves. The workers group can be divided into laid-off SOE workers and migrant workers in the non-public owned enterprises. It will further promote the construction of harmonious laborrelations to study the workers’protest conduct since the 1990s. It is critical to further study workers’protest group, characteristics and institutionalization of building harmonious labor relations. Though the protest reasons features and results among different groups of workers are quite different, all the protest behavior are under the background ofreforming socialist market economic system and building a harmonious society. How to deal with different types of workers protest is the critical component not only of harmonious labor relations but also of a harmonious society. |
