China’s Gini coefficient has been steadily rising in recent years, which reflects the gap between the rich and the poor is getting bigger and arouses wide concern from all sectors of society. This paper focuses on the geospatial distribution of different social classes of Shanghai residents, which is the spatial differentiation of classes with homogeneous groups in terms of values, interests, rights, lifestyle, social status and social activities, etc. There are two objectives for writing this paper. One is to study the characteristics of spatial differentiation of social classes, from the point of view of Shanghai. The other one is to access the deep-seated influence factors of spatial differentiation.Through the comparative study of the commonly used methods for the analysis of spatial differentiation, this paper finds out that using "housing prices" to study this problem has a great advantage over others. Therefore, based on the established fundamental assumptions, the distribution of housing prices can be used to reflect the geospatial distribution of different social classes. By using AcrGis, the maps which show the housing prices and the characteristics of geospatial distribution of Shanghai social classes are draw. With the creative applications of "Hedonic Price Method", this paper constructs "Hedonic Price Models" from both geographic and economic dimensions, and uses SPSS to analyze the influence factors of spatial differentiation. And relying on the models and regression results, the paper finds out the reasons of different characteristics of spatial differentiation. The main discovery of this paper is to find that the people living within the Outer Ring Road belong to affluent, high-income and middle-income classes, and find out their main distribution regions and each characteristics of distribution. In hoping this paper will play a role in studying spatial differentiation of different social classes.
