Value rationality and instrumental rationality are two important parts of human rationality. Value rationality refers to an absolutely reckless behavior which follows a certain value and belief. It is a kind of consciousness that human beings pursuit values,including ideas,principles,beliefs, goals, ideals that ought to be set.Instrumental rationality refers to the ability that can calculate and predict the consequences as conditions to achieve purpose, including application means such as technology, means,mechanisms, and programs.The paper combines value rationality and instrumental rationality with the ideological and political education in China.It sets forth the basic theory of value rationality and instrumental rationality in China’s ideological and political education.With the help of domestic and foreign research literature,combines with theory and practice of China’s ideological and political education,the paper explores the path of instrumental rationality and value rationality of China’s ideological and political education to develop harmoniously.It proposes to achieve good development of China’s ideological and political education,we must make value rationality and instrumental rationality of China’s ideological and political education develop coordinately.The paper is divided into four parts:the first part is the basis theory of instrumental rationality and value rationality of China’s ideological and political education.It introduces the meanings and functions of instrumental rationality and value rationality in China’s ideological and political education.The second part is the development status of instrumental rationality and value rationality in China’s ideological and political education,including achievements and problems.The third part is the reason why instrumental rationality and value rationality in China’s ideological and political education has problems.It includes the relatively weak of education subject, the initiative of education object is not strong enough, the educational environment is not well enough and the tendency to focus on theory and ignore practice.The fourth part is the key point of the paper.It proposes practical approaches to achieve harmonious development of value rationality and instrumental rationality in China’s ideological and political education.It provides practical way for the smooth development of ideological and political education.
