Chinese unions of the largest scale in the world have unique features, compared with the common western style labor unions focused on the interests of union members. The goal of Chinese unions is to work for the harmony of the benefits between the company and the union members and to contribute the social entire welfare maintaining the close relationship with the government. Recently, however, by corresponding to the increase of labor dispute, and the enlargement of the awareness for the labor rights among workers, Chinese unions have attempted the transformation to focus on the guarantee of workers’welfare, and they have oppressed the foreign companies in order to increase the establishment of labor unions. According to these changes, Korean companies doing business in China need to deviate from their passive attitudes for Chinese unions and search the active countermeasures.The majority of previous researches related to this topic are mainly about the countermeasures of Korean companies under the changes of labor environment in China in which the topic of Chinese unions is included just as a small part. The purpose of this research is to search the countermeasures of Korean companies for Chinese unions as an independent topic. On other hand, there is a need to restrict the scope of the research because labor unions affect the companies in the diverse directions such as politics, economy and society. For this reason, this research restricts the specific purpose into examining the countermeasures of Korean companies for Chinese unions based on the economic impacts of labor unions.The structure of this research is to review the economic effects of common unions and Chinese unions and then to derive the solutions of Korean companies from the basis of the review. This research use the method to classify the considerations of companies based on the previous researches and theories and to search the countermeasures of companies according to the classification. Furthermore, by distinguishing the steps before and after establishment of unions, the appropriate considerations for each step are reviewed in order to derive the valid countermeasures.In the result, the finding of this research is that Chinese unions offer companies several factors operating as the favorable economic effects but some of unique characteristics of them give the burden to companies, and the appropriate countermeasures based on the finding is suggested. In addition, it remains to the limitation of this research, which the suggestion of the countermeasures is just in the abstract because the specific countermeasures are determined by the business environment of each company.
