Law giving consumers the right to know, which aims at eliminating inequality betweenconsumers and operators because of information asymmetry.As fundamental rights, the rightto know is a prerequisite for consumer to receive services and purchase goods, it isindispensable. Similarly, in e-commerce business consumers`many other rights also based onthe right to know being protected.In addition to the introduction and conclusion of this article, there are other five parts.The first part introduces the basic theory of consumer’s right to know in e-commerce.The related concepts of the consumer’s right to know are depicted firstly,then define thee-commerce and consumers in e-commerce clearly, in the following, the author describesthe new features of the consumer’s right to know explain the definition of it further.The second part mainly analyzes the typical phenomenon of encroaching the consumer’sright to know in electronic commerce, for example, the operators often provide incompleteinformation and false information to the consumers. What’s more, there are also manyproblems in the credit evaluation mechanisms.The third part is about the current status and problems of the consumer’s right to know inelectronic commerce in China. And then points out the main problems existing in the currentlaw, For example, the consumer’s right to know the meaning of the provisions are too narrow,administrative supervision, credit evaluation mechanism is not perfectThe fourth part discusses the current status of the consumer’s right to know in electroniccommerce in foreign countries and some aspects worth learning. It mainly analyzes thelegislative efforts of OECD, the European Union and the United States in the protection ofconsumers ’right to know, then extracts the essence of extra-territorial protecting behavior inthis field and combines that with our country’s actual situation.The fifth part is mainly some thoughts about improving the legislative protection ofconsumers’ right to know in China. The author principally presents some suggestion in fouraspects: information disclosure in electronic commerce, liability for infringement of the rightto know, supervision and management mechanism, the credit rating system of operators.
