| Analysis of foreign policy, of this complex and multifaceted phenomenon, cannot beconsidered complete without lighting it at the international level.But before we talk about the essence of the story of such a policy, it is necessary todetermine the question of the nature of international relations themselves. Internationalrelations-a systemic set of political, economic, social, legal, diplomatic, military andhumanitarian ties and relationships between entities of the international community.These subjects are people, state, public and political forces, movements and organizations.International relations are a set of integration links that form the human community. Andit is leading the trend of modern international relations.A feature of modern international relations is their transience, fluidity, which isreflected in the new tendencies of the international community on the basis of mutualrelations of cooperation and at the same time to improve the means of violence. Theseprocesses sometimes balance and sometimes overpowering each other-depending on thematch of the interests of different states.Therefore, the overall direction of the entire system of international relations in aholistic, interdependent world based on the need to take into account all the interests ofcountries and peoples in the development of a line of conduct.In today’s world, international political relations significantly affect the formation ofinternational and world order as a whole.The foreign policy of the state in modern conditions is a factor that helps to expressand defend the interests of the state in the international arena. At the same time, theforeign policy of the emerging trends of development of the international relations, as akind of tool.The formation of foreign policy is influenced by various circumstances thatdetermine its future character. Sometimes folding together the circumstances contributeto non-diplomatic settlement of the crisis, which threatens the existence of establishedworld order.Therefore, the purpose of the master’s thesis will be to study the conditionsconducive to the formation of alternative ways of demolishing of international conflicts. In this master’s thesis the features of Russian foreign policy in the post-Soviet spaceare being discussed, in particular the protection of geopolitical interests and nationalsecurity by creating buffer states. The paper also examines the main characteristics ofbuffer states, their importance, advantages and disadvantages both for the buffercountries and for the international community as a whole. As probative databaseoccurrences of open conflict in the border areas with the states that are not supported inthe current economic and political course of the Russian Federation-Ukraine andGeorgia are used. Attention is paid to the historical similarity of events and identifies therelevant laws.The main purpose of master thesis is to analyze the political situation created by thepolitical instability in the region as well as to observe appearance process of buffer statesand to study their significance for Russian state. To study Russian foreign policy towards“near abroad†in conditions when new regional order is going to emerge; consideration ofthe historical background and the reasons for holding the political line of the selectedpolicy.The main aim of present thesis is to research necessity of maximizing security aswell as defending geopolitical interests of Russian state. If Russia is to remain a greatpower able both to defend itself and to assert some influence globally, it needs to retainand maintain influence on its “pro-western†neighbors.To achieve the goals and objectives of the thesis the concept of geopolitical interestswill be used. The main ideas are the theory of "geographical axis of history written by H.Mackinder, Geopolitical model "Heartland-Rimland" created by N. Spykman andGeopolitical doctrine of Z. Brzezinski.For the analysis, the selected direction of Russian foreign policy geopolitical views,ideas and concepts of Zbigniew Brzezinski are used, which are used to explain and provethe main argument. For complete coverage of the theoretical framework the thesis alsoreveals the concept and main characteristics of the geopolitical doctrine.All the work is divided into an introduction part, three chapters, which will revealthe main arguments, and conclusion.The first part of the master’s thesis is the introduction, which explains the relevanceof the chosen topic and a brief historical overview of the events. In the introduction, special attention is paid to the main argument of the research topic, identifies the mainfeatures of it, which will be disclosed in detail in the following chapters. The introductionalso contains information that tells us how the thesis will contribute to the study ofinternational relations in general.The first chapter discusses the basic concepts of geopolitics as a doctrine and its useto explain the events taking place in the international arena. It also reveals the basic ideasand concepts of geopolitics, its founders and followers. The study will help moreaccurately determine the appropriate concept for further and more complete disclosurethe topic of the thesis.The second chapter discusses the main goals and objectives of the national securityof the Russian Federation, as well as reveals the historical and political preconditions forthe emergence of conflicts at the border and further formation of buffer states under theprotectorate of Russia.The third chapter of this thesis is devoted to the notion of a buffer state and itsimportance for the maintenance of peace in the international arena. The third chapter alsoexamines in more detail way the case of Ukraine and Georgia, and the subsequentformation of unrecognized states on their territories.The conclusion part summarizes the work done, once again sets out the basic termsand their evidentiary factors. In conclusion, are also fixed the main arguments of thestudy.The study would be a valuable addition for regional studies of Post-Soviet area aswell as will show new facets of international relations in the region. It will be a differentattempt to explain selected policy line of Russian Federation based on security issues andshow the influence of past events on the inter-state relations in the modern world... |
