The Middle East lies in the connection point of Asia,Europe and Africa which makes it very important in strategic position.The Black Sea,Mediterranean Sea,Red Sea,Caspian Sea and the Arabian Sea provide a convenient water transportation for the Middle East.The Middle East is known as "the world's oil treasure".Its rich oil resources is vital for the world's energy supply.Meanwhile,there are still lots of complex ethnic conflicts, religious strife and intense competition of the world powers in the Middle East.A meeting was launched by Egypt, seven Arab countries (Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Yemen) representatives met in Cairo, signed the "Charter of the Arab League".It stands for the establishment of the League of Arab States, which has 22 league members through 65 years' extension and improvement. Arab League plays an important role in religious disputes, in easing the ethnic conflicts and to maintain the unity of the Arab world.The paper just want to show a carefully illustration and makes the people known the significance of the Middle East in geopolitics.The paper is made up of five parts except the introduction.The first part show you a general background about league of Arab states.The second part illustrates that the league of Arab states plays an active role in the geopolitics of Middle East.The third part analysed the uselessness of league of Arab states in the Islamic world.The fourth part tells the relationships of western countries with LAS.The fifth part show us the relationship of LAS with China.LAS is an important international organization which role and status is unique and irreplaceable. One hand,the paper will make us have an comprehensive and systematic understanding about LAS.The other hand,we hope that we can learn some lessons and experiences from the LAS.Above all,serve for our national interests.
