Obama Administration’s Foreign Policy Towards China On Culture Strategy And Chinese Culture Security

Cultural factor is one of the basic driving forces of U.S. diplomatic behaviors exceptfrom political, economic and martial ones. It is the ‘idea’ and the spiritual core objective ofAmerican foreign policy and crucial tool to implement foreign policy. An in-depth research ofU.S. policy towards China in the cultural view helps to understand the inner ‘logistics’ of U.S.foreign policy towards China, maintain our cultural security and lay a solid foundation forgaining the favoring status in dealing with U.S.-China relationship.This paper is based on typical diplomatic cases under the Obama administration topresent an analysis of U.S. policy towards China and discuss on basic strategy of our culturalsecurity, which divides into three parts:The first chapter discusses the topics of Obama’s diplomatic theory. Firstly, take aretrospect on Obama administration’s foreign policy toward China and its cultural elements.Secondly, give an analysis of the ground and context behind Obama administration’s foreignpolicy towards China. Thirdly, present an interpretation for the deeper reason on Obama’scultural strategy.The second chapter illustrates effects of the U.S. culture strategy toward China on ourcultural security. This chapter analyzes the features and models of U.S. cultural hegemony’simplementing in three aspects of cultural communication, information transmission and valuepromotion. Then point out the direct challenges and threats to our security posed by Americancultural hegemony, including the impacts on China’s ideology, economy and culturaltransmission.The third chapter gives thoughts on how to deal with the U.S. cultural strategy. Given thesystematics of U.S. foreign policy towards China, this chapter provides with countermeasuresto it in three aspects as follows: to bring up the safety awareness of national culture,comprehensively promote cultural innovation, build the advanced socialist culture andvigorously develop the cultural industry to maintain the national cultural and economicsecurity.
