In the year of 1932, Thailand government followed the western countries to establish the constitutional monarchy. But the western development pattern does not establish firmly in this country,on the contrary, it makes the country unstable. Some scholars hold the idea that Thailand King’s authority is a serious and big obstacle to establishment of a democratic system. While this thesis thinks that the deficient institutions in Thailand cannot satisfy the the interest of every group. They always incline to solve the issues by the way of street politics,demonstration and military coup,ignoring institutions and law. Under the circumstances,the country needs the king to sustain peace.The thesis takes time as the main line and analysis the change of King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s strength, considering that the change depends on the relationship between royalist and army forces, and the decisive factor affecting the relationship is the change caused by the interaction of “economic development-social structure-political authority”.King Bhumibol acts as a “mediator”,which rescues Thailand from political danger for many times. While with the development of economy and democratization, the political effect and influence of King falling into a dilemma. The thesis is going to evaluate the King’s effect and influence in Thailand, and predict the tendency of King’s political status.
