Miao ethnic group in China is an ancient nation. The Miao people formed a fine tradition in the long process of adaptation and use of the natural environment, they create their own unique social culture, and constantly enrich, modification, make it perfect. The Miao in Xiangxi face of the fragile natural environment for a long time, frequent natural disasters, in response to natural disasters has its unique way. This article from the perspective of anthropology, based on investigation of thousands of workers in Bandanghe Village Qiangongping Town Fenghuang County of Hunan province Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. Use participant observation, interview and literature search method, the natural disaster and the traditional local livelihoods, social culture combination, analysis of the local villagers how to respond to natural disasters, the disaster prevention and reduction in production and life, and analysis of its contemporary practice and value. Provide valuable materials in order to make the work of disaster prevention and mitigation measures in the region and sustainable development, and for the minority areas of disaster prevention and reduction countermeasures to provide reference.This paper is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction part, mainly on the research background, research methods and the difficulties of the account, review and related theories of natural disaster research. The second part, describe the habitat of Bandanghe village, and analyzes its main natural disasters, summarized the characteristics of the main natural disasters. The third part discusses the Miao village in the long-term adaptation to the nature and use of the process, the formation of cognition and the villagers to natural disasters and adapt to the habitat, rich social and cultural awareness in the village. The fourth part is based on the Anthropological Reflections, disaster prevention and mitigation strategy for the comprehensive analysis of the area, analysis and evaluation of the system of natural disaster prevention and mitigation technology effect, in order to find the effect of ecological wisdom of traditional livelihoods for local disaster prevention and reduction. The fifth part through the field investigation and literature, discussed the disaster and disaster prevention and mitigation measures in the traditional livelihoods and daily life of the local Miao village.
