Honesty is the basic social norm of human social life, the moral foundation of market economy growth, and as well the necessary quality for the free development of human. In the report of the Eighteenth Congress of the CPC, honesty was first brought into socialist core values system, which was of important theoretical values and practical significance. Advocated and requested by individual core values, patriotism, dedication, honesty and friendliness are basic values pursuit that every contemporary Chinese citizen should build up and basic moral principle that they should follow. As the core requirement for citizens’ basic moral norms, it reflects the essential attribute request for socialist citizens’ individual values pursuit and their moral behaviours. To cultivate honesty values is also a part of socialist core values cultivation and practice, which plays an important role in promoting the prosperity of socialist culture and constructing socialist cultural power.The paper proceeds from the basic issue of honesty values to analysed the basic connotation of honesty, values and honesty values, as well as the internal relations among them. On this basis, it combines current times background to conduct a systematic illustration and demonstration for the significance, principles, and approaches of honesty values cultivation.
