The proposal of the concept of Network-centric Warfare indicates that the future combat mode will convert from weapon platform-centric to network platform-centric. C4 ISR is a set of human-machine systems, which integrate military science, military command system, command and control personnel, computer technology, information technology and other high technologies. By combining command and control manners, resources and command staff closely, C4 ISR finally makes the information collection, transmission, processing and display, as well as decision-making into a scientific way. The network issues referring to C4 ISR under the background of network-centric warfare are receiving more and more researchers’ attention.So far, most studies about C4 ISR network issues still focus on theoretical research. Large numbers of literatures have presented their conclusions about the network issues of C4 ISR from the standpoint of qualitatively theoretical analysis. The corresponding conclusions about the network-based C4 ISR have been obtained to realize the synchronous sharing of information, the cut-down of propagation time, the improvement of command efficiency and the enhancement of combat capability.This dissertation started from the basic structure of C4 ISR, analyzed the component elements of the system, established the overall performance model of the system structure, and then conducted research in-depth about network issues of C4 ISR. The dissertation mainly consists of the following parts:(1) Research on the component structure of C4 ISR.This part focused on the logical structure of C4 ISR, analyzed the network topology of the logic topology structure of the system, and then combined the statistical properties of the network structure from the perspective of complex network theory.(2) Establish and validate the structural performance models of C4 ISR.Based on the system structure analysis, this paper proposed the overall performance measures of the C4 ISR structure. After that, a network-based structural performance model of C4 ISR was established, and the model was validated at the last part of this dissertation.(3) Research on network issues at different levels of C4 ISR.In this part, the weapon layer, the command and control layer, the early warning and reconnaissance layer of C4 ISR were studied using simulation methods, and the contribution of different network levels on the overall system performance were achieved as well.(4) Research on the effect of different networked ways on the overall performance of C4 ISR.Based on the overall performance model of C4 ISR, the paper studied the weapon layer in several different networked ways using simulation method, and analyzed the influence of different networked ways to the overall performance of C4 ISR.(5) The influence of the networking degree on the overall performance of C4 ISR architecture.This part studied the influence of different networking degrees on the overall performance of C4 ISR when simulated under the condition of a same networking way. And the influence mechanism of networking ways and networking degrees on the overall performance of C4 ISR is analyzed in the end of this part.Combining with ground air-defense composite group C4 ISR, this paper studied the practical significance of the impact of system networking ways and the networking degree on the overall performance.
