A Study On The Rural Youth Political Participation At Present

Political participation is an important index to measure the modernization of political, as well as the important content of democratic politics and remarkable symbol.As our country has great power in agricultural, the degree of political participation of rural youth(age 15 to 35) which account for about 40% of the rural population plays a very important role in the development of democratic politics of our country. With the reform deepening as well as the rapid development of rural economy, the requirements of political participation of rural youth become gradually increasing. However, as the democratization construction in our country starts relatively late, the level of rural youth’s political participation still has many deficiencies and defects. Take county p in north jiangsu province as an example, through the methods of questionnaire investigation and individual interview, we carried on an empirical research about political cognition, political attitude, political participation behavior and political evaluation of rural youth in county p. The research finding is that several facts such as the relatively backward economic and social cultural environment of rural areas, lack of political consciousness and not perfect political participation system and channel of rural youth as well as rural mass organization defects restrict the improvement of political participation. Due to these, not only to develop the rural economy, strengthen the protection of farmers’ economic interests and consolidate the material foundation of political participation, but also should strengthen the construction of legal system, build the institutionalization of the rural youth benefit expression mechanism and perfect the political participation mechanism. At the same time, we should construct rural political culture with Chinese characteristics, let the mass media and new media play the role of political orientation so as to promote the construction of political culture of rural youth.In addition, we should also construct the “Big Youth League Committee” in villages and towns and accelerate the organization construction of the rural youth who go out forworking to strengthen the organization guarantee of rural youth.
