The development of social legal system has enhanced the sense of law and the spirit of the contract for individuals. Signature as the symbol of the contract’s spirit becomes more and more useful. Since the signature often represents as the person, the authenticity of the signature ties directly with the personal rights and obligations. The property and legal rights disputes arisen from the authenticity of the signature also have increased, which leads to more and more cases requiring the handwriting identification. However, in practice the variety of the handwriting’s patterns is creating huge difficulties for experts working on this area. The diversity in handwriting is an “age-old problem”, but also it is a “new challenge”. Although in cases experts always face different types of handwriting pattern, the word of “writing pattern” wasn’t been in the history of handwriting identification for a long time. The word of “writing pattern” is first defined in “SF/Z JD0201002-2010”, but still there is no relevant literature focuses on the specific topic of the diversified writing patterns of signature despite it’s a hard problem which experts are often faced with in practice. The research focused on this subject may not only benefits academic, but also provides a reference to the handwriting identification in the future practice. This article is divided into four chapters with a signature handwriting and identity cognizance theory as a point-cut, and the article includes the discussion of compared research, experience summing-up method and case study approach and other research methods. I will combine the materials and data I collected from the practice of forensic science to the article and try to classify the diversified writing patterns of signature and analyze the cause of it. Additionally, in this article I will state the related knowledge and problems in identification systematically base on the cases I studied. The first chapter states signature identification and the theory of identification, including the difficulty within the signature’s handwriting characteristics, the basic content and the application of the identification theory. This chapter is the foundation for the following discussion of definition and theory of the diversified writing patterns. The second chapter analyzes the diversified writing patterns of signature. Based on the pre-existing concept of the writing pattern, this chapter summarizes and defines the different types of writing pattern and discusses the cause of the diversified writing patterns of signature from multilayer and multi-perspective analysis. The third chapter discusses the authentications for different writing patterns. This chapter uses a classic case as its starting point, and conducts series studies which base on the selection and the sifting of samples among different writing patterns cases, key of identification, and overall evaluation. The forth chapter discusses the authentication opinions and standard. In this chapter, I combine the characteristics of different writing patterns and problems arisen from the authentication practice and the variety of authentication opinions and overall evaluation of the opinions is reviewed and given standard analysis. In the meantime, I bring my own opinion on those specific questions discussed in this chapter.
