Software Defined Radio manufacturers utilize heterogeneous processing platforms frequently to meet the increasing demands for computing capacity with the size, weight and power constraints. However, these advantages are accompanied with the cost of system developing complexity increased. To improve the software reusability and system configurability, Connection Framework for Software Defined Radio heterogeneous processor platforms is designed in this paper. This paper focuses on the development and implement of connection framework which is compatible with Software Communication Architecture(SCA). This design solves the problem of dynamical waveforms deployment on heterogeneous processing platforms under SCA. Through this novel concept, the dynamical deployment issues are readily to be handled by the end user. The main contributions are as follows:1. Based on the allocation of segmental logical destination, a link description for dynamical waveform deployment is proposed. Meanwhile, the connector of the Connection Framework is designed, and such connector is capable of the dynamical link configuration and management.2. A transmission mechanism for the Connection Framework is designed to solve the application management and connection issues on the heterogeneous processing platforms. In particular, such mechanism consists of two main parts, i.e., the scheme of allocation and management of logical destination, and router function based on message transforming.3. In order to afford the capability for multi-type tasks and multi-task applications, two kind of concurrent mechanism is designed to support the variety of operations and waveforms. One of those is based on thread pool and memory supervision in GPPs, and the other one is based on the multi-thread and signal semaphore in DSPs. Besides, a task-priority response policy based on the minimum average system delay is proposed, and it can reduce the data transfer delay between different processors effectively.4. The Connection Framework on SDR-4902 platform is implemented. By integrating the Connection Framework into SCA system, the ability of link configuration, management and dynamical waveform deployment are available for the SDR systems, meanwhile, through testing the communication delay among tasks, it is demonstrated that the proposed priority response policy is effective.
