As the information revolution on deepening the impact of future military, battlefield environment simulation technology in operational command, military training and tactical research role is crucial. This makes it generated on the basis of combat simulation training play a science, economy, confrontational, authenticity, intuitive, rigor, interactive, real-time, controllability and reproducibility, and many other advantages. Battlefield Environment Simulation required to achieve the ultimate goal of "virtual reality ", so the fidelity of the virtual environment requirements and implementation technology research will be endless. According to the need of virtual battlefield environment visual simulate system, we focus on the technology of viewpoint intelligent control and effects simulation. The main research work is as follows:1. For the traits of virtual battlefield environment, we studies related visual simulation technology of battlefield environment. We use the finite state machine technology from artificial intelligence theory to design a state transition class for one fighter model. We use VWorldTerrain technology to solve the wide range of terrain generation issue, and simulate the real natural environment.2. In order to meet the visual simulation need of battlefield environment, we use vieWTerra visual development platform to complete the design of main frame and external data interface, and confirm the real-time display mode. Finally, we establish the system’s core architecture based on the modular ideal.3. We study the viewpoint intelligent control in virtual battlefield environment visual simulate system. By pointing out the deficiencies on usual viewpoint control technology, we proposes a new method of viewpoint intelligent control using AI.4. Complex battlefield environment is full of flames, smoke, explosions and other special effects. We apply particle system to simulate the fire and explosion in battlefield environment. To meet the experiment of watching scene, and to ensure the real-time requirement of the system, we construct the attribute of the fire particle and detritus particle in explosion all around. The simulation results show that effect simulation both can satisfy the requirement of reality, but also ensure the real-time requirements without increasing the system load calculation.Based on the above research work, we completed the development of visual battlefield environment simulation system to meet the needs of the visualization of the battlefield environment.
