With the development of industrialization, democracy, and the awareness of women’s rights, Great changes have taken place on the status of women in the United States. Instead of just playing a role in the family or factories, more and more women showed up in the field of science, politics, etc. They gradually come out from the narrow space and have a chance to reach out the world. In the 20th century, there were three women appointed as the secretary of state of the United States, which broke male monopoly in this field, and had a great influence to the United States’ diplomacy. The paper will compare the three secretaries of state from the aspects of their growth experiences, education backgrounds and political careers. The paper includes three parts, and main contents are as follows:The first part is the introduction, which introduces the overview of the domestic and overseas research, the theoretical and practical significance of the research, special features and innovation of the research, and the structure of the paper.The second part is the body of the article, and it contains three chapters. This part makes a comparison among three female secretary of state from their growth experiences, education backgrounds and political careers. All three chapters follow the same structure. Firstly, introduces the change of the status of women in American history, Secondly, discuss their experiences, and thirdly, find out the common factors, compare the differences.The third part is the conclusion of the paper.,which introduces the factor of their success and analyzes the currently impeding factors of the women development in the United States, for example competition with men, sexual harassment and other factors. Meanwhile it also introduces the social support for the women, such as support from the labor unions, implementation of equal pay and the promulgation of anti-sex discrimination law.
