Ruling risk is a key issue for all the parties in power, especially for Chinese Communist Party (CCP). It relates to the ruling status of CCP, fate of our nation, success of socialism with Chinese characteristics and 100-year rejuvenation dream of Chinese nation. As China steps into the new stage of building a well-off society in an all-round way and world enters into new era with great change and adjustment, our party faces unprecedented new risks and challenges. Thus, nowadays CCP needs to attach great importance to ruling risks, improve its ability to withstand ruling risks, consolidate ruling status and accomplish ruling mission. From reform and opening to now, CCP has handled all kinds of ruling risks successfully and accumulated abundant corresponding experience. The study object of this paper is how CCP could withstand ruling risks with an emphasis on history and basic experience of how CCP withstand ruling risks from the reform and opening. Firstly, started with basic theories of ruling risk, concept, category and characteristics of ruling risk are stated.Ruling risk and corresponding important solutions written by classic Marxism authors are introduced. Secondly, the course of history of how CCP has handled the ruling risk since reform and opening is reviewed. According to he ruling role changes of CCP, this part is divided into 4 parts with each part dealing with the major ruling risk factors and responses that were taken by CPP on each phase. Lastly, basic experience of how CPP managed the ruling risk since reform and opening was summarized from 4 aspects, which are sticking to scientific theory guidance, sticking to the people centered, comprehensively deepening reform and improving the ability to deal with ruling risk.
