In the modern world we live, democratization is an irresistible historical trend sweeping the globe. The election is an important practice of democracy, is one of the most important political design of a country. The election systems have great diversities. From the beginning of the nineteenth Century, Australia opened a prelude to the reform of the election. For hundreds of years, Australia has been walking on the road to democracy on the reform of the election. The franchise has been significant changed, the electoral system constantly adjusted, many electoral methods have been adopted such as secret ballot, compulsory voting,to remaining the participation of the whole voting rate at the forefront of the world. In the election, the electoral system affected directly and indirectly on the voting behavior in Australia. Several factors such as party identification, candidate orientation and issues play a key role on voters, even decide the choice. The association between the election system and voting behavior can be general peep in the Australian 2013 general election. To investigate the influence of the Australian electoral system on voting behavior, has important value and significance for understanding the pivotal role of election in modern democratic politics, grasping the development and change in the new period of Australia, further developing the Sino-Australia relations, drawing lessons from Australia to the electoral system design concept, and better promoting the Chinese characteristic socialist democratic politics.The dissertation takes a combination of the history and the theory as a basic exposition pattern. The dissertation firstly reviewing the current electoral systems connotation, classification, characteristics and representative states, and analyses the formation of the Australian electoral system, history and evolution, influence factors of voting behavior, then pay overall theoretical thought on the 2013 Australian election voters tend,the influence from Australian election systems on the voting behavior,and give the enlightenment of the experiment of Australia election for modern democratic politics, and so obtains the comprehensive inspection on the relations between Australian electoral system and the voting behavior of voters. The dissertation consists of six parts. They are introduction, the concept and classification of the electoral system, the Australia’s experiments in electoral system with democracy, electoral behavior of Australian voters, voters in the 2013 Australian election and several thoughts on the influence between the electoral system and the voters.
