Analysis On The Political Values And Its Influencing Factors Of Migrant Workers In China

Since the reform and opening up, China has witnesses rapid economic development. The total economic output has jumped to second place in the world. The number of jobs absorbed by the economic is also growing. Migrant workers is of a labor force in the formation of China’s industrialization and urbanization development process. It is the product of China’s history and national conditions. The emergence of this large group has created wealth for the community and the country. They have made a significant contribution for modernization construction. Migrant workers mainly refers to the group whose household registration is still in rural areas. While they have engaged in non-agricultural industries in the city or the local. According to the sampling survey results of National Bureau of statistics, the total amount of China’s migrant workers increased 9.83 million in 2012 than the former year, including migrant workers in city 163.36 million and have increased 0.473 million, which is an increase of 3％; local migrant workers 99.25 million and have increased 5.1 million, which is an increase of 5.4%.The total increasing number is more than 2.6 billion. Faced with such a huge population, depicting a case map of the political values of the contemporary citizens, the study of the demand migrant workers and an acquaintance of their political value orientation will be helpful for the authorities to obtain legitimacy resources. At the same time, it is helpful of promoting modern political values such as democracy, freedom and the rule of law. This survey of research draw support from a project of national level about socialist core value and all levels of political value in China, extracting the data representing values of migrant workers, employing a combination research method of qualitative and quantitative. It analyzes 228 samples of migrant workers extracted from the data. This paper mainly focus on four aspects including the perspective of democracy, the rule of law, the concept of freedom, the concept of change. The author analyses the overall value of the migrant workers group and the impact of different variables on the political values.First of all, as for the overall value of migrant workers, migrant workers who tend democracy of Chinese color is higher than the city, which illustrated the understanding of the modernization within migrant workers is not in place.From the point of change, compared with the whole agricultural population, the proportion of migrant workers who hold confused attitude in social transformation is lower, indicating that migrant workers can clearly express their needs.Secondly, the study of the differences in the political values between the migrant with different frequencies of living village will find that the higher the frequency of living the village, the higher degree of people’s thinking like a citizen, the more inclined to the western concept of democracy. In the view of change, the sample with moderate living frequency has the highest proportion of moderate social transformation; The correlation between view of freedom and view of law and with the living frequency is not particularly obvious. The study of political values of the differences between the migrant workers in city and local migrant workers will find migrant workers in city are more inclined to the western concept of democracy.On the choice of social change, the local migrant workers tend to have moderate social change view. In view of freedom, migrant workers in city show positive free tendency of criticizing the government. Accepting the baptism of the city make them a critical idea. In the view of rule of law, migrant workers in city are more inclined to the extreme concept of rule of law. Study between different occupational groups of migrant workers will find on the understanding of democracy, agricultural producers and construction sanitation workers prefer a democratic view with Chinese color. But college students prefer western style of electoral democracy. In the understanding of freedom, college students show the positive freedom to control the government. Investigation of different income levels of migrant workers will find the lower income level, the higher proportion of radical concept of rule of law. In general, lower income groups tend to have a higher extreme degree and fuzzy degree in rule of law. Investigation of different educational levels of migrant workers will find low income level of migrant have a higher proportion of fuzzy democracy. Migrant workers with higher level of education prefer substantive democracy. In the view of social change, migrant workers with lower educational have the highest proportion of radicalism. Migrant workers with higher educational level have the highest proportion of progressive attitude. Lower education groups and higher education group tend to control the government; All in all, the education level have a significant impact on migrant workers’ political views.Finally, the results of the relationship between different levels of democratic consciousness and different degree of radical protest behavior is that the stronger democratic consciousness, the higher awareness of their rights. They also have the higher level of choosing extreme ways to safeguard their rights and interests. Among the sample of migrant workers with strongest democratic awareness the group who has strongest supporting behavior participation constitutes the largest proportion. Migrant workers who have higher democratic consciousness tend to carry out a higher level of political participation. The conclusion is that the correlation between the democratic consciousness and the participation of different political action is obvious.
