In social governance, the functions of ideological and political education show the characteristics of the individuality and social unity, historical and developmental, multifaceted and hierarchy, potential and display, flexible and long-term.This article emphatically studies the functions of ideological and political education in social governance from the individual functions and the social functions. The individual functions of ideological and political education in social governance are the positive influence on the individual, such as to guide the political direction, inspire the spirit of power, shaping of individual personality, regulating the individual virtue and so on.
