Study On Communist Party Of China’s Correcting The Leftism During The "Great Leap Forward"

From the beginning of November 1958 to January 1961 when the "Great Leap Forward" ends, there are three phases of the Communist Party of China’s correcting the leftism. The first phase is from the Zhengzhou Meeting, when the Central Committee begins to realize the leftism mistake and therefore convenes a series of meetings to try to correct it. This phase does not end till the early stage of Lushan Conference, which is summarized as the preliminary period for correcting the leftism. However, the correcting procedure is interrupted by the anti-rightist campaigns started in the later period of Lushan Conference, which stagnates the correcting leftism. From the second half of 1960, the Central Committee and Mao Zedong begin to intentionally lower many indexes, summarize the experience of socialism construction, and try to correct the over-left behavior, which is marked as the new phase of correcting the leftism. By analyzing the procedure of correcting the leftism, some characters can be concluded during this period---- it shows an "N" shape of development. Correcting the leftism coexists with anti-rightist, and shows repeatability. The new phase of concreting the leftism is the inheritance and development of preliminary period for correcting the leftism, but they focus on different emphases, so there is phase difference between the two. The Union of Soviet has a great influence on correcting the leftism. The whole procedure lacks democracy. Served as a part of Communist Party of China’s exploration for the socialism, the positive significance of the practice of Central Committee of Communist Party of China’s Correcting the Leftism during the "Great Leap Forward" should be affirmed, but it does not get rid of the dogmatism completely.
