Study On The Tibet Issue Report On People’s Daily In 1959

Tibet has become part of China’s geographic land officially since the ancient times.The relationship between Tibet area and the central government has started strengthening since Tang dynasty. During Yuan dynasty, the Tibet area officially joined the land of China, and since then the central government had got control of the direct sovereignty of Tibet. During Ming and Qing dynasty, the central government further consolidated the administration of Tibet and effectively pushed forward the solidarity between different minorities and races and the stable development of Tibet area.However, since the outbreak of the Opium War in 1840, Tibet also inevitably suffered from the invasion of the western countries. The rich resource, great geographic location,and the special political regulation featured the union of politics and religion has become strong attractions for these western countries which also intended to create an independent Tibet. The peaceful liberation of Tibet in 1950 has broken the conspiracy of these countries, however, the reactionary forces from the western countries has been secretly hooked up and support the rebellion unions of Tibet’s upper class, and these forces plotted Tibet Issues without stop with the only aim to restrict and set barriers to the development of the new China. 1959 is an important year during Tibet history, a fierce Tibet Issue broke out during this year, which destroyed the peaceful development of Tibet area, meanwhile, this also offered new chances for the future development of Tibet. Since the Tibet Issue still remains unsolved till now, which is still a serious problem affecting the sovereignty and unity between different races, it has become an important work to further research the Tibet issues. This thesis takes the Tibet Issue in1959 as the theme of the research, and it analyzes how the Communist Party of Chinadealt with the breakout of this Tibet Issue by using of People’s Daily.This thesis has 5 chapters. The 1st chapter concentrates on the 3 subjects: the reason to select the Tibet Issue as the theme, review of related literature, and the explanation related definition; the main content of this chapter presents the current situation of research on Tibet Issue both in China and abroad, from where it is known that there have been certain active results on the Tibet Issue subject, but there still remains lots of issues open to further research. Now it has become a unanimous acknowledge that the essence of the Tibet Issue is China’s domestic political problem which is related to China’s sovereignty. The 2nd chapter concentrates on research of the reason of report of People’s Daily about the Tibet issue, according to which, the Tibet Issue is the outcome of the invasion of China by the western countries in the modern history and the outcome of the collaboration between the western invading countries and the upper-class rebellion unions. The 3rd chapter concentrates on the content of the report, and attaches the importance to 3 subjects: the rebellion issue of Tibet, the competition of the global forces and the decision of the United Nations for the Tibet Issue. It has indicated that the Tibet Issue is not only a domestic political issue, and meanwhile it is a global problem as well, and it needs to pay attention to the factors of the influence from the global level.The 4th chapter proceeds with the analysis report, the People’s Daily made a detailed report of the Tibet Issue by making use of the combination of both domestic report and global report, positive report and negative report and combination of narrative report and critical report. The 5th chapter concludes the major achievements of the Tibet Issue report by People’s Daily in 1959. Domestically speaking, it strongly pushed forward the further proceeding of democratic notion, democratic reformation and unity of different races, and from the global level, it fought against the reactionary forces and meanwhile strengthened the global union forces.In spite of the fact that the Tibet Issue is not the key factor impacting the main picture of China’s development, the globalization of this problem has still become a serious problem worthy of special attention. Though the analysis, the thesis gets a result that it needs to pay attention to the influence to the Tibet Issue from the global relationship while keeping it as a principle that Tibet Issus is essentially one of China’s domestic issues. Facing the fast development of the information communication, the press is playing an enormously important role, China needs to get the discourse power and gradually reduce the negative influence to China’s global relationship from the Tibet Issue and further improve the global image of China, and creates condition for solve thisissue.
