Shui is one of the ancient races who live in Lingnan area of China. More than90.86%people of Shui live in Sandu Shui Autonomous County of Qiannan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Guizhou Province, which makes the sports cultural activities passed down in sports developing process having great cultural and inheritable value. According to the research on Sandu Shui Autonomous County of Qiannan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Guizhou Province, the traditional sport of Shui is formed by the environment of temperature, spirit, etc. and is not only closely related to geographic, economic and social development; but also related to traditional cultures, holidays and characteristics of Shui. All those factors show the massive farming cultural characteristics of Shui and make the traditional sport an important part of Shui. By using literature research, field study and questionnaire, investigation and analysis about the present situation of the development of the traditional sport of Shui from sociological angle has been done. The result shows that traditional sports of Shui are only held in the traditional festivals and Shui major cultural festivals by people, neighborhood or the township government. And the activities are held in the places, like playgrounds, schools or somewhere with lots of people, which are very primitive and natural. According to the survey, the major activities of traditional sport of Shui which are widely presented at present include four major events of horse-racing, martial arts, chess of Shui, and the competition and game of Shui and more than fifty events. There are varieties of activities of traditional sport of Shui, in which the nationality, entertainment, and regional are extremely showed. However, effected by factors of environment, culture, economy, etc, those events and activities are facing very serious challenges during the inheriting and developing process. The impact of modern sport makes the construction of traditional sport of Shui in Sandu Shui Autonomous County extremely difficult. Some events of traditional sport of Shui are facing the extinction. If people don’t pay enough attention to this situation, some of them would only remain in our memory. The events of traditional sport of Shui are developing more and more alike some other traditional sport and modern sport events. The traditional sports of the Shui minority has been assimilated by modern sports and will finally extinct, due to some mistake in preserving it own culture and little attention has been pay in it."Shuishu","Maweixiu" have been listed as non-material cultural heritage of china. As the preservation work goes deeper, good development has been achieved and ethnic culture with Shui minority characteristics will become popular. Ethnic culture will also showcase its splendor by sports, which makes ethnic minority sports a new type of comprehensive culture. At present, the special fund for national sport is insufficient badly, They are lack of area and equipments. On the other hand, the district economical development is the direct reason which leads the low aggressiveness of people who are willing to attent national sport, and restricts the pace of industrialization of Shui nationality sport. the back ward of Communication, water and electricity facilities make an impact to the development Shui nationality indirectly; the low stress on the special education to also cause the low penetration rate on the Shui nationality traditional sports on a certain extent. Due to the effect of modern culture, the precious cultural heritage is in the trend of disappearing. There are so many sports events without written record, but the death of some masters make them lose another way to pass it to the next generation. Therefore it’s pretty important and extremely urgent to protect, research and develop traditional sports of the Shui nationality according to all of these problems. We need to set reasonable goals and emphasis point, thus to remain their features and Cultural characteristics to make them continue for many centuries.
