The lack of technical personnel is an important factor that hinders thedevelopment of economy and society in rural places. Along with the development ofsocial economy and the passage of time, new generation farmers will graduallybecome the effective strength in rural economic development. They are not only themain body of building new socialist countryside but should be given priority insolving the problems concerning agriculture, rural areas and farmers. At present, thecomprehensive quality levels of rural labor force in Yunnan province are relativelylow, which is unable to meet the requirements of the development of modernagriculture for new generation farmers. How to speed up the cultivating of a largenumber of new generation farmers who are literate, technical, and professional toinject new vitality into the construction of new socialist countryside, has become aproblem that must be solved as soon as possible. To cultivate new generation farmersis the responsibility of rural vocational education. Facing such a historic task, Yunnanrural vocational education shows a lot of inadaptation, which not only affects its ownconstruction and development, but the process of Yunnan agricultural modernization.Through the method of literature research, this thesis combs the development ofnew countryside at home and abroad, the change of new generation farmers and thedevelopment of rural vocational education, and summarizes the position and role ofnew generation farmers in new countryside construction as well as the new challengesthat rural vocational education is facing. By the methods of questionnaire survey andinterview, this thesis conducted an empirical study of new generation farmers inYunnan province and the development of rural vocational education. It made a deep analysis of new generation farmers’ ideas, levels of education, science and technologyquality, management control capacity, and so on. It also made an in-depth research onissues such as the lack of overall planning and organization in Yunnan vocationaleducation, effective supply shortage, unclear cultivating objectives, the lack ofteachers, imperfect education system, inadequate laws and regulations, etc, pointingout that in the face of new generation farmers’ cultivation, there exists some problemsin Yunnan rural vocational education, relatively lagging specialties, non-adaptiveeducational system, single form of running schools, inconsistent teaching content, andimperfect legal system. On the basis of the above, it carried out a comprehensivestudy on Yunnan rural vocational education’s adaptation to the developmentrequirements of new generation farmers, by using Marxist theory of human capital,Marxist economic theory, rural development theory of Marxism, and Vocationaleducation theory, putting forward that in the process of cultivating new generationfarmers, Yunnan rural vocational education should pay attention to the followingaspects of its own, creating an external environment suitable for its development,improving its internal operation system, enhancing its development ability, taking thecultivation of professional new generation farmers as its goal, innovating concepts,expanding functions, accelerating development, and really taking the service functionof cultivating professional new generation farmers for new rural construction and thedevelopment of agricultural modernization in Yunnan.
