In the21st century, with the rapid development of information technology, variousfields of the society have changed a lot, especially in the aspect of education. Our country’straditional education was impacted deeply by the information technology. We are urged tochange our teaching theories, teaching methods, teaching means and so on to adaptourselves to the demands of the rapid development. Nowadays, it is a must to cultivateall-round and comprehensive talents. At present, it has become a hot topic to combine andintegrate information technology and various disciplines. As an important discipline, thereis no exception for Mathematics.In order to improve the drawbacks of the traditional teaching modes, MathematicsCurriculum Standards (Experimental) of Senior High School emphasizes the integration ofinformation technology and mathematics teaching. The Geometer’s Sketchpad is referredto as"the21st century’s dynamic geometry", it is powerful, easy to operate. What’s more,it can provide us with an ideal virtual environment of solving mathematical problems.Therefore, it becomes the first choice of the primary and middle school mathematicsteachers. First, this paper introduces the function and features of the Geometer’s Sketchpad;Second, this article expounds the basic principles of integration, such as activeparticipation principle, individualized method of instruction and scientific rationalityprinciple, etc. and further gives the application of the Geometer’s Sketchpad in the highschool mathematics. It is mainly divided into three parts: algebra, solid geometry and planeanalytic geometry; Third, this thesis illustrates the significance of integration, namely thevalue of application of the Geometer’s Sketchpad in the high school mathematics teaching.It can stimulate students’ interest in learning; cultivate the students’ mathematical thinking.It is more advantageous to highlight the teaching focus, desalinate the difficulty; Finally,the text provides the effective strategies of integration. It will mainly summary andillustrate the strategies from four aspects: the nature of mathematical concept, validatingmathematical conclusion, providing thinking and carrying out the research topic, expanding teaching content; Most notably, the paper summarizes some problems in the processof integration and some effective suggestions are put forward.Using the Geometer’s Sketchpad can break the limitation of traditional teachingmethods, optimize classroom teaching structure, and change the roles of teachers andstudents. It can be made sure that students play the main part in the class, which canimprove the quality of classroom teaching. However, some teachers can’t understand wellabout the function of the Geometer’s Sketchpad. Some problems always appear when theyuse them. Therefore, taking the teaching practice into consideration, the teachers shoulduse the Geometer’s Sketchpad appropriately in terms of time, in proper quantity, to make itbetter service for teaching activities.
