Foreign language learning is a very complicatedprocess.It is well known that some people are more successfulthan others in foreign language learning.Different levels ofachievements may attribute to variables associated with thelearners personality.In recent years there has been extensivestudy of individual differences in learning foreign language,which helps to explain different success among learners andwhy some learn a foreign language with facility while othersstruggle but only achieve limited success. As a specializedgroup,art students have some special features andpersonalities. This thesis is an investigation report whichis based on the theories and the results of previous studies,attempting to get a deep understanding about art students oncurrent situation in English learning in Baiyun No.2HighSchool where the author works,probing into what kind ofmotivation senior art students have in English learning andtry to find out rational methods to help senior art studentslearn English more effectively.In order to get the true pictureof the current situation and attitudes of arts students inEnglish Learning,the author took100art students majoringin painting in Baiyun NO.2High School as samples in this study with a combination of questionnaires and individual interviews.Finally, the author makes some suggestions for stimulatingart students’ motivation by combining the survey result: suchas cultivating students learning interests, building students’self-esteem, helping students set proper goals; Lowering theteaching request; increasing the class variables etc.
