The issue about the students with learning difficulties is a universal problem that the teachers in Senior High School are facing. The author has been paying close attention to how these students appear and how to transform them. Aimed at the students with English learning difficulties in Sun Yat-sen Memorial Middle School, the author makes a survey on the reasons why this phenomenon occurs. In the meanwhile, the author tries to transform these students in some effective ways.After reading some documents, the author finds that since the middle of20th century, the researchers from their own fields have been focusing on the issue of the students with learning difficulties, including the American scholar Kirk who proposed the concept of learning difficulties. The scholars from Former Soviet Union began to do research on the teaching in school from1960s, including B·A·Cyxomjnhcknn, Benjamin S. Bloom. From1970s, many researchers began to explore the psychology of them and the background of society, diagnosing and remedying these students. The scholars from our country has been devoting themselves to the research of the issue since1980s, including Professor Zhong Qiquan and Lei Li. Originally, they focused their attention on the characteristics and causes. Afterwards, they began to explore how to transform these students with learning difficulties and achieved a lot.Whether at home or abroad, the scholars seldom do research on the innovation of transforming strategies, especially in demonstrative schools. The author is working in a national demonstrative school. Therefore, the essay targets its research at the students with English learning difficulties in this school and utilizes the methods of classroom observation, questionnaire and interview in the essay, which helps to find out the causes of the phenomenon, trying to transform the students in some effective ways.After the interview with the English teachers of Senior Two, the author finds that the issue about the students with English learning disability has been upsetting them and realizes the situations of the students with English learning difficulty. Generally, they can’t focus on the teacher in class or finish their homework in time. Worse still, they don’t form the good habit of learning, and don’t know how to utilize the learning strategies, which result in their poor performance in English. To solve the problems above, the author selects more than100students from12average classes and conducts a survey among them, after which the author summarizes the causes of the phenomenon. There are two main causes, internal factors and external factors. The internal factors include the learning motivation, learning strategies and volitional quality. The connection between the Junior and Senior High Schools, teachers and families belong to the external factors. Therefore, the author brings some effective measures forward, including the measures from teachers and families. The teachers can transform the students by changing the attitude towards the students with learning difficulties, motivating the students to study, guiding the students to use the learning strategies, cultivating the students’volitional quality and improving the teachers’qualities. What’s more, the families also have to take some action to help them, such as having reasonable expectation for their children, and maintaining contact with the teachers. Meanwhile, the author tried to transform some students, after which the author analyses the result of the transformation. Lastly, the author summarizes the whole essay, mentioning the limitations of it.
