The issue about the students with learning difficulty is troubling some parents, teachers and the students themselves. What is worse, the number of these kinds of students is getting larger and larger for various reasons. In this essay, the author tries to find out different types of motivations among the students with learning difficulty and to get the facts that influence their motivations. Based on this, the strategies to stimulate the motivation of the students to learn English are introduced. The author conducted a case study among the 100 students with learning difficulty in YiCheng NO.2 Middle School. The questionnaire consists of two parts: one is about the main types of English motivation; the other is about the factors that influence their motivations of learning English. The research is carried out at the fixed time , in the fixed place. It is objective and scientific. From the result, we find most of the students with learning difficulty have to learn English only to get the chance to enter the university and to be able to find a good job in the future. It belongs to the instrumental motivation. They are not interested in the English language study. On the other hand, a lot of them are learning English partly because they are eager to know more about the English culture and customs, which belongs to the integrative motivation. There are many factors that influence the English learning of the students with learning difficulty. They can be divided into two parts: the inner factors and outer factors. The inner factors contain the learning attitude, learning strategies, learning attribution, learning pressure, attention, confidence and the cross-culture awareness; the outer factors include the learning atmosphere in and out of the classroom, the teacher's quality and the teaching styles, evaluating styles and so on. Accordingly, the author introduces strategies to alter the learning motivation of the students with learning difficulty. For example, changing the attitude to the students with learning difficulty, teaching them the right learning methods, controlling the anxiety properly and so on..The paper focuses on a special group——the senior "students with learningdifficulty" and does some research on their motivation. Meanwhile, some practical strategies have been made. It is certain that the essay will help to arouse and maintain the English learning motivation of the students with learning difficulty. The paper consists of six chapters. The first chapter is introduction. It gives the reasons for this research on the learning motivation of the senior "students with difficulty in learning English". This chapter also shows the importance and necessity of the research. Chapter II is mainly about learning motivation and the related research besides the definition of English learning motivation. At the same time, different types of English motivation are discussed including the definition and characteristics. The researches on learning motivation abroad and home are also shown in this chapter. Chapter III focuses on senior "students with difficulty in learning English". It tells how "the students with difficulty in learning English" comes into being and the characteristics of them. In Chapter IV, the author discusses the learning motivation of "the students with difficulty" in learning English. From the questionnaire, we find the main factors that influence the English learning of the senior students with difficulty in learning English. In Chapter V, some strategies to stimulate their English learning motivations have been introduced. Finally, a conclusion is drawn that changing the learning motivation of the senior "students with difficulty in learning English" is important and necessary.
