Now the new National Curriculum Standard advocatesinquiry-based learning, which creates investigative learningspace to cultivate innovative spirit and practical ability. Therefore, we should not only put inquiry-based learning inlearning new courses, but also in designing math exercise, which should be close to students’ real life and keep theessential connotation of math. Although great success has beenmade in the reform of exercise classes, problems still exist:some teachers ignore inquiry-based exercise teaching design. They use expository method to teach. Thus, inquiry becomes onlya form.Based on the existing educational principle, this papermakes inquiry-based teaching design of the math exercises bothin concept teaching and theory teaching after comprehending thecurrent situation of math exercise classes in senior middleschool, and carry out in high school classes. The conclusions are as follow:1. theoretical knowledgeInquiry-based exercise teaching should based on questions, the teacher should often ask questions. Furthermore, the teachershould always lead students to investigate the problem situation themselves. Thus, the students could not only requireacknowledge and skills, but also have the active learning emotionand attitude.2. practical knowledgePractice shows that inquiry-based exercise teaching, whichhas no significant effect or function on solving simple questions, actively helps students solve completed questions. The reasonsare: compared with expository method, inquiry-based exerciseteaching could motivate students’ learning initiative, students could play a leading role to explore and solve theproblems and take active part in interactive discussions.
