The secondary vocational schools in our country hold important position in personneltraining. The schools are the bases which mainly train applied, technical, and occupation talents.Chemistry is one of required courses in secondary vocational schools and it is very important inall of secondary vocational schools. As the weak knowledge hold by the students, traditionalteaching model do not receive good effect in fact. So how to teach chemistry is a researchhotspot in the teaching of secondary vocational schools. In recent years, some secondaryvocational schools start modular teaching of chemistry, which is carried out though establishingseveral knowledge modules, choosing the modules associated with student major for teaching, and splicing and practicing each module by students, to improve the students’ ability on theoryand practice. In our study, we understood the development of modular teaching of chemistry in Chinesesecondary vocational schools by reading papers, investigating and comparing the differentsecondary vocational schools. We investigated two secondary vocational schools, Da’anvocational teaching schools as well as Taobei agriculture vocational schools, in which Da’anvocational teaching schools had applied modular teaching of chemistry, and the other did not usethe teaching method. The senior students were mainly investigated in our research. Our resultsindicated that the students cultured with modular teaching of chemistry were better than theother ones, in their work techniques. Especially in the work position in the further, the studentscultured with modular teaching hold more confidence. The traditional syllabus-based teachingcovers all of knowledge points, and it cannot deep into any of the knowledge. This deviatesfrom the purpose of culturing practical, skilled as well as occupational talents in secondaryvocational schools. Compared with normal teaching method, modular teaching of chemistrycould further improve the professional skills of our students and promote the culture of practical, skilled as well as occupational talents. Even though some problems still exist in the modularteaching of chemistry, such as teaching areas and knowledge series, these problem will besolved during the practice process gradually and the modular teaching of chemistry will bemature and in tune with the times. Therefore, the modular teaching of chemistry should beinvestigated, regulated as well as put into practice on a trial basis in our country.
