In recent years, with the rapid development of the global economy, the scale of hotel industry is also expanding to meet the development of market, of course, this will inevitably cause the increasing of talent demand to hotel industry. In the increasingly fierce competition situation of talents, it is very important for our secondary vocational schools to strengthen the cultivation of students’ professional skills. Therefore how to cultivate skilled and practical talents to meet industry needs in the secondary vocational school is an important problem to teaching management. The job characteristics and job requirements of hotel industry require the candidates to have hotel knowledge and skills adapting to the post. In order to highlight the characteristics of post and purpose of teaching, it requires secondary vocational schools to conduct targeted teaching based on the characteristics of the students’ strength and requirements characteristics of jobs when cultivating talents for hotel industry, modular teaching can be a good solution to the above problems. Practice teaching of Hotel management major should focus on cultivating a high level and targeted talents that can meet the skill requirements of jobs, students can get more systematic, targeted learning and practice in skill and improve and realize the teaching goal of school as well as meet the needs of hotel industry through modular practice teaching.The paper is consisted of five parts.Chapter One introduction points out the purpose and significance of this paper through the analysis of domestic and international research status on hotel major modular practice teaching Mainly defines some important concepts through basic research on present modular teaching.Chapter Two mainly analyzes the design of relevant modules and preparation of selected content in the pre-implementation and some problems that need to be paid attention to in implementation as well as effect evaluation of modular practice teaching in post- implementation.Chapter Three mainly analyzes application status of modular teaching in hotel management major through questionnaires to find out the existing problems: teaching objective is not clear, limited training equipment in the school lead the teachingpractice improperly, lacking of practice skill from teachers bring some difficulties and etc. The paper analyzes the above problems from the sides of students, teachers and schools.Chapter Four mainly explores how to solve the problems and suitable strategies existing in the practical teaching of modular teaching methods: build a reasonable and practical teaching system to ensure that there is a certain theoretical guidance;strengthen the outline of practical skills development of teachers to ensure good quality of practical teaching; improve school training equipment to meet the training needs;provide adequate facilities and equipment to ensure training and development for students; strengthen school- enterprise cooperation to create a high quality “Teaching-Learning-doing” platform and further expand and strengthen the training platform.Final part is the conclusion.Taking the construction of practical teaching system as core, this paper focuses on the practical needs of the hotel industry and the school practice, discusses the importance of modular practice teaching in hotel major and the problems that may exist in the implementation of modular teaching, and analyzes the causes of these problems as well as offer the countermeasures to solve these problems.
