With the rapid and continuous development of the global economic,political integration and national communication, cross-culturalcommunication has become an increasingly important topic, how to masterand understand this knowledge is especially particularly important inEnglish teaching. Although the ministry of education in the primaryEnglish teaching syllabus has emphasized the importance of cultureteaching in English communication, traditional class still emphasis morein the context of lexical and grammar, cultural communication can not geteffective notice value. This kind of situation especially worse in the ruralmiddle school of northwest China.This paper take the Niu Jia Liang middle school in yulin,shaanxiprovince as an example.The author take the student as an sample to carryont the questionnaire survey, also take an interview communicationsurvey with the English teacher,and basically got the cross-culturalknowledge datas of rural schools. Using SPSS21to analysis of thequestionnaire, also with the help of form and the chart to make theinvestigation more clear.Then finish student interviews and teacherinterview analysis at the same time, and elaborated the present situation ofteachers’ teaching and students cross-cultural knowledge level. After theresults of questionnaire survey,the author compared the ministry ofeducation regulations syllabus about the cultivation of the culture requirements for reference, to identify whether the level of cross-culturalknowledge in rural middle school students reached the the standard. Thengive the suggestions and strategies from the aspects of teachers, teachingmaterials as well as rural middle school students. Finally is the innovationand deficiency of this study, and hope to give the education workers andacademic researchers some help.
