With the implementation of new curriculum, the theory of cooperative learning is gradually brought intothe teaching of foreign language classroom. All the students are divided into several groups and the students inthe group cooperate with each other in the way of solidarity and cooperation, mutually guide each other andfinish the course content which is arranged by the teacher. In the traditional grammar class, the teacher’sexplanation takes up much time and the students’ learn is closed, individual and lack communication. It makesthe students easy to forget the knowledge and even lose interest and enthusiasm to learn grammar or the Englishlanguage. Especially, the single teaching organization restrains the students’ comprehensive development andrestricts the improving of English using abilities.Therefore, the research puts the Social Constructive Theory, Group Dynamics Theory and the Zone ofProximal Development theory as the theory basis of the group cooperative learning. According to thecharacteristics of English grammar teaching in Junior Middle School, the author tries to carry out the groupcooperative learning in English grammar teaching in Junior Middle School in order to cultivate and improvestudents’ interest in English learning, and change or improve their grammar achievement. Certainly, theresearcher tests and verifies the teaching effect by experiment.The research objects are the two classes (one is Experimental Class and the other is Control Class) whichare in the nine-year class of Ji Xian Township, He Shui Contry, Qing Yang City. The experiment starts fromSeptember,2013to November,2013. The researcher used the three forms which included questionnaires,interview and their English test scores to understand the effect of group cooperative learning. The authorcollected all the useful experiment data and analyze by SPSS16.0. The experimental results show that thestudents’ learning interest are enhanced in the Experimental Class through the group cooperative learning duringtwo months. It is more important that their English grammar scores have been improved. Thus it can be seen that,the group cooperative learning which is carried out in English grammar teaching in Junior Middle School isfeasible and effective.
