As a multi-ethnic country, its minority groups play an important role in Canada.Government of Canada appears to various educational problems in the process ofsolving these issues. Government of Canada developed a series of different nationaleducation policies not only to protect their own interests for each ethnic groups, butalso to protect the nation’s unique cultural traditions and language. The term,multiculturalism, was first come to use in Canada in1960s. In the policy ofmulticulturalism, it regulates that Canada is a country with different nationality andvarious cultural characteristics, and not a society just based on the nationality whichfounded the country. The government advocates that different nationalities anddifferent cultural groups should respect one another and get on equally.This thesis takes the changes of educational policies towards ethnic minorities.
