Jinxi Li is a trend-leading figure in the history of contemporary Chinese education. He madea great contribution to Chinese education in both theory and practice. The research of Jinxi Li’seducation thoughts has experienced a process from the shallower to the deeper, from small to big,from specific evaluation to comprehensive analysis. However,educators now still know littleabout the value of Jinxi Li in the ifeld of Chinese education. After the materials of formerresearchers have been reviewed and collated, it is found that their main focus is collating andinducing Jinxi Li’s Chinese education thoughts as a whole*Although many scholars have realizedJinxi Li’s innovation of the teaching of Chinese reading, and have done some study on this, theyhaven’t gone deeper. There is still improvement to be made to study more systematically and inmore details.This paper starts with Jinxi Li’s education thoughts of Chinese reading. Using methodsincluding literature revind context analysis, it first studies the theory of Jinxi Li’ew as Chinesereading education. Then his viewpoint of Chinese reading education is reviewed from theperspective of history and reality. And the value of his thoughts is analyzed and assessedobjectively. Through the research of Jinxi Li’s Chinese reading education thoughts,it is foundthat Jinxi Li is the most modern and inspiring Chinese educator of his time,and has his uniqueeducation thoughts which have great signiifcance to Chinese reading education today. In theaspect of the content of the education concept, his viewpoint was advanced but not extreme.Suppose his Chinese education thoughts were widely adopted and applied in teaching, perhapstoday’s Chinese education would be different. But one of the reasons why this did not happen isalso the shortcoming of his education theory. Jinxi Li was good at and was used to express hiseducation theory by graphs Such expression seemed to be clear and concise,but lacking of suiffcient evidence made the expression of his education thoughts not detailed and clear enough.which limited it from being widely accepted, its unfavorable for guiding teaching in practice.Inevitably, Jinxi Li’s education thoughts of Chinese reading had been influenced by his period.Some of the ideas is not applied to actual teaching practice, limited by social conditions at thattime.On the whole, study on great Chinese educators like Jinxi Li and their education thoughtsstill need to be continued. It is not only for making Jinxi Li’s value in the field of Chineseeducation to be known by more people, but also for carrying forward and developing the partwhich was inherited by contemporary Chinese education, using it to guide the revolution ofChinese reading education nowadays aiming at existing problems.
