Reading teaching, as an important way of acquiring knowledgefor students, plays an important role in Chinese teaching. Theaim of reading teaching is to cultivate students’ ability ofreading, beauty-appreciation, to make them master the way ofreading, and develope a good reading habit, and finally to developethemselves with reading skills which can adopt to their study andlife. There are continual reformation of reading skills, whichbring out various new conceptions for a long time. But there arestill many problems while observing the reality of readingteaching.Ye Shengtao is a famous Chinese educator and pioneer of moderneducation reformation, whose educational thought influences a lotof educators. His educational thought can still be tracked in newChinese curriculum standard. He put forward many insight viewsbased on his own teaching experiences. His views, which are statedin simple but incisive words which are easy to be understood andoperated, can be taken as examples in today’s reading teaching.In the thesis, literature research method and questionnairemethod are used to do the study. It can be divided into three parts.Part one,“main content of Ye’s thought of reading teaching”.In this part, it mainly states three training objectives, which are the goals of reading teaching and concentrated reflection ofYe’s thoughts. In the following, it also states the advanced partof his thoughts that are still valuable and worth reflecting byteachers and students in reading teaching nowadays. Part two,“current teaching situation and existing problems in high school”.According to the author’s survey, the main problems in readingteaching can be concluded and the main reasons of these problemscan be analyzed. Part three,“guidance of Ye’s reading teachingthoughts in reading teaching practice of high school”. In thispart, it mainly puts forward the countermeasure of the problemsbrought up in the second part, which can apply Ye’s thoughts intopractice to guide teachers how to teach and students how to learn.In conclusion,the thesis, which is written form Ye’s thoughtsof reading teaching and aimed at the problems of current teachingsituation in high school, put ye’s thought into the practice ofreading teaching in high school. And it hopes that it can helpto settle some problems in reading teaching, to develope a goodreading habit, and to improve their ability of literatureappreciation and independent reading.
