English listening has been considered as one of the most important anddifficult skills in English learning and teaching. It also plays an important role inEnglish communication. With the development of English learning and teaching, moreand more students are eager to develop their listening abilities. More and more teachersare willing to study how to teach listening.This thesis focuses on how to teach English listening based on Krashen’s InputHypothesis. That is because listening is considered as one of the input skills. It acts animportant role in obtaining information and language knowledge. Input becomes thekey point in listening learning and teaching. The most famous and influential studiesabout input in second language learning is Krashen’s input hypothesis. It emphasizesthe importance of large amounts of comprehensible input in language learning. Thisthesis tries to find the relationship between Krashen’s input hypothesis and Englishlistening teaching and get some implications for English listening teaching.In order to reveal the relationship between Krashen’s input hypothesis andEnglish listening teaching, the author selects the junior school students from MianyangKaiyuan Middle School as the subjects of the study. A questionnaire and an intervieware used as the study instruments. The questionnaire investigates students’ realopinions about their listening; students’ evaluation of their listening materials;students’ real listening input including their English class and after-class listening activities; and students’ listening interest. Then the three interview questions as asupplementary part are designed to know more about students’ opinions on Englishlistening teaching.From the result of the study, some pedagogical implications are summed up at theend of the thesis: choosing optimal input for listening teaching; building relaxedlistening atmosphere; making listening teaching diversified; combining listening andspeaking together and paying more attention to the durability and perseverance inEnglish listening teaching.
