It is widely recognized that listening ability plays a crucial part in English learning. But peopledidn’t realize it until the1950s.People have paid more attention to listening study since then. Insenior schools in China, listening teaching had been totally neglected in English teaching beforelistening became a testing item in National Entrance Examination for College. However, students’listening ability is very weak. Therefore, listening teaching has been a difficult issue for Englishteachers. In the early1980s, Krashen, an American linguist put forward the theory “Input Hypothesis”,which lays stress on the importance of input. This input must be understandable. Only by thismeans can human beings learn foreign language well. In other words, they must understand ofaccept the input information. At present, in China, English teaching in Senior High remains to beimproved. Thus, it has become one of hits in English teaching to put the theory into the practice oflistening teaching and explore a scientific English teaching.Through the combination of the qualitative and quantitative analysis, the research results showthat the teaching method combined with the comprehensible input can bring the better teachingeffect. Therefore, it is of great importance for teachers to conduct the listening class based on thecomprehensible input. And the realization of comprehensible input can improve the learners’listening competence to a large extent.
