Although researches on shyness have conducted at home and abroad, domestic research started late. And the results of different researchers have relativelygreat differences, and the results of different subjects also exist certain differences. Previous studies did not conduct on vocational school students. However, teaching ideas, teaching nature and students’ all-round development determines theparticularity of vocational school students. So it is necessary to research on the shyness of secondary vocational school students. The purpose of this researchis to develop a suitable shyness questionnaire for secondary vocational students,to explore the status and characteristics of their shyness, and to further explorethe relationship between shyness and social adjustment of students in secondaryvocational school.Based on the literature review, open-ended questionnaire, expert advice and conduct exploratory factor analysis, the formal shyness questionnaire of secondary vocational school students contained13items was established. The reliability and validity of the questionnairewere tested: Confirmatory factor analysis also verified the effectiveness of the structure, each fit index was χ2/df=1.646, RMSEA=0.038, CFI=0.972.The Cronbach alpha coefficient of each dimension and the total scores of the questionnaire were0.848,0.724,0.689,0.848. The split half reliability coefficients were respectively0.849,0.702,0.683, and0.664. Correlation coefficient of each dimension and total score were0.830,0.821,0.890, which is greater than0.8, a high correlation. Andrelated degrees among three dimensions were relatively low. The status and characteristics of the secondary vocational student’s shyness were analyzed and therelationship between the secondary vocational student’s shyness and social adjustment was discussesed.Conclusions are as follows:(1)The shyness questionnaire of secondary vocational school students includ es three factors: worrying about comment of others, social difficulties, to pay attention to the self. The questionnaire has good reliability and validity, and canbe used as the measurement tool for further research.(2)The overall level of vocational school students’ shyness is at a mediumlevel(3)Shyness of Secondary vocational school students have significant differences in origin of student and whether the class cadre.(4)there was no significant difference in gender, age and grade.But "socialdifficulties" present a significant difference in age. The score of younger (14-17years) is higher than that of the older group (18-20years old).(5)Shyness of secondary vocational school students is significantly related to social adjustment, and can effectively predict the social adjustment level.
