Along with the promotion of school consolidation of rural areas in recent years, alot of students go to school from farther away, which has certain influence onstudents’ initiative to attend school, and even has caused school-age children in someremote areas to drop out of school. In this study, home-school distance can be dividedinto three types, namely, physical distance, time distance and psychological distanceon the basis of the its attributes. Through the investigation and analysis of the currentsituation of different types of home-school distance enthusiasm of students, the thesistries to explore the operation mechanism of the influence of different types ofhome-school distance on students. This study used a questionnaire survey method,select R Town and D Town in Jilin Province, one central school, one middle schooland one nine-year system school without considering students in the first grade as thewhole sample. The research findings are as follows: First, physical distance is notsignificantly correlated with students’ initiative; the farther the distance, the students’psychological distance will be increased, and the students’ perceived distance wassignificantly correlated with students’ initiative; Second, the time distance does notaffect the students’ initiative to go to school, middle school students’ initiative issignificantly related to students’ departure time from home to school in the morning;Third, students’ initiative is significantly related to psychological distance, the highlevel group of students’ psychological distance was less than low proficiency students’psychological distance; the smaller the psychological distance, the more active andhigher the students’ initiative; Fourth, students’ initiative is significantly correlated tothe degree of fatigue after reaching school; along with the grade growth, thecorrelation decreased slightly but is still significant.
