With the rapid development of social information and Internet technology, the need for modern youth hasbeen expended to their thinking other than cultural knowledge. Under the requirements of new Standard,education should also aims at facilitating the comprehensive development of students. According to this,schools should pay particular attention to the cultivation students’ mindset and various abilities, instead ofjust the indoctrination of traditional knowledge. In light with the characteristic of the biological sciencetogether with that of students’ way of thinking, especially with the idea of dialectical materialism added tothe biological teaching contents under the New Standard, the need for cultivating students’ basic conceptson philosophy appears to be more important than ever before. Furthermore, as the universal connection andthe change perspectives of development is a major philosophic concept, the author chooses the topic: theexploration for the application of the philosophy about the universal connection and the changeperspectives of development in the biology teaching in the junior high school.In the first place, this paper deals with its background, significance and some researches at home andabroad by way of reviewing literatures related to the topic, and finds the value of researching, the direction,methodologies as well as the main content of the topic. In the following section, this paper offers somedescription about its core concepts, philosophy, and the universal connection and the change perspectivesof development. Basing on the method of questionnaire conducted with respect to the current situationexisting in biology teaching in the junior high schools in our country, along with the theories and the newrequirements of New Standard respecting biological science, the author analyze the characteristic of thebiology teaching contents in the junior high school and shows us the philosophic thinking bears on the linksbetween knowledge and development. Thus, the author offers some fundamental strategies regarding thetwo philosophic thinking accordingly. Besides, the author cites some concrete chapters, including the maininternal group of animals, the function of animals in the biosphere, the diversification and the protection ofthe animals and so on to exemplify the application of such strategies in teaching. After selecting theexperimental group and the control group, the author conducted teaching experiments accordingly. In termsof the analysis obtained from the comparison between class observation and the5test scores in3 experimental months, the author found that the experimental class is superior to the control one both in theaspect of the tests and class performance, which makes it clear that the cultivation of students’ philosophicconcepts about connection and development plays an active role in the biology teaching in the junior highschools.The exploration for the application of the two concepts of philosophy in biology teaching in the juniorhigh schools prompts teachers to realize the omnipresence of philosophy in biology textbooks and theimportance of it, and take advantage of the basic philosophic concepts to dig out the phenomena and theproblems hidden from us with the purpose of achieving the ultimate goal of education due to therequirements of the New Standard: quality-oriented education.
