Study On Shangqiu Wushu Culture In China

The development of Shangqiu Wushu culture is the epitome of that of Zhongzhou andeven Chinese Wushu culture. The conduct of the research of Shangqiu Wushu culture can beregarded as the penetration, refinement and supplement of the research of ZhongzhouWushu culture, which is beneficial to the inheritance and sustainable development oftraditional Wushu culture. From the perspective of cultural sociology and historical sociology,this thesis adopts literature, interview, case study and other research methods. Through theinvestigation of Shangqiu Wushu culture, this thesis aims at revealing its core spirit, exploringthe law of development and patterns, showing its rich content and unique charm, and thenenriching and providing a theoretical foundation and reference for the study on the Chineseregional Wushu culture.This thesis delineates the scope of the study area of Shangqiu Wushu culture and definesthe concept of Shangqiu wushu culture. The meaning of Shangqiu wushu culture is thethought and behavior of the people who lived on Shangqiu area, embodied and reflected in theform of wushu skills. It is the sum of all the material products and intellectual productsassociated with the wushu activities in Shangqiu area.There are various features of Wushu culture in different periods manifesting in thehistorical development of Shangqiu Wushu. The feature of ancient Shangqiu Wushu culture is“the martial spirit, its brightness dazzles the eyes”; the feature of modern Shangqiu Wushuculture is "learning widely from others’ strong points, finding the new through the old"; thefeature of contemporary Shangqiu Wushu culture is “tradition, innovation”.After the development of history, there emerged many excellent martial arts masters withinthe area of Shangqiu. The appearance of them not only makes Shangqiu Wushu culture morefresh and alive, but also contributes to the diversification of the development of ShangqiuWushu culture. The unearthed Han stone in Shangqiu shows the Wushu culture and socialoutlook of the Han Dynasty in the form of art, fully reflecting the martial spirit of the HanDynasty in Shangqiu. The outstanding entertainment of the temple fair of Erbotai wushuexhibits the Shangqiu wushu has become a part of the folk culture of Shangqiu. Mulan cultureshows the Takenori culture of wushu regaredsing patriotism as the core, which is the mostimportant value everlasting in Wushu culture. Finally, this thesis performs the systematic case analysis on Embroidery and Xiliangpalm which are popular in Shangqiu region. Embroidery is founded in Shangqiu whichincorporates the strong points of different schools and develops the independent system.Embroidery possesses the features of moveing quickly, keeping good attack with countlesschanges and other features. Xiliang palm is imported from other places which has strongpracticality and can anticipate the enemy with every gesture. Xiliang palm has the stylefeatures like the dynamic and static combination, ability of using legs and feet, offensive anddefensive balance, brave and bold punching, strong aggression and other styles.
