In the era of knowledge explosion, the knowledge that we learn from the schooleducation is far from enough to meet the needs of modern society, so we needpowerful learning, which has already become the main theme of this era. However, due to some certain constraints, education in middle schools is now facing manyproblems, such as students’passive learning attitude which leads to inefficiency andblind study. How to deal with that problem is the ultimate goal of this thesis.Meta-cognitive monitoring, as a core part of meta cognition, has receive moreand more attention. A large number of experiments show that a task cannot beaccomplished without the executor self-consciousness and self-control. That is to say,the higher level of meta cognitive monitoring, the greater probability of success theexecutor have when they are conducting a task. When it comes to the schooleducation, if students have been trained in their meta cognitive monitoring ability, they would pay more attention to their own learning process, and reflect continuouslyto promote powerful learning. Therefore, this thesis, taking Chemistry as the example, presents a case study onmeta-cognitive monitoring. In the research, a typical high school student who has alow level of meta cognitive monitoring and low efficiency of learning have improvedsignificantly after training; which is a case study showing positive results.
