Existing studies have shown that the second language acquisition’smotivation, cultural background, attitudes, and gender differences are some of thefactors affecting learner’s learning strategies selection. Today parts of Thailand stillretain namely traditional boys’ and girls’ schools, but in fact most of those schools arealready mixed-sex schools. Author found out in the Thai-girls senior high school girls’Chinese language achievement tests and subjective tests are significantly better thanboys’. Thus the writer applied strategy inventory for language learning (SILL) surveyfor testing how gender differences affecting their choice of learning strategies as well asanalyzed the reasons of the survey result. The author hopes that the specific findingsand suggestions can provide Chinese teaching in Thailand some useful guide.This paper is divided into four parts to explore the countermeasures of Thailandsenior high school gender differences’ effects on Chinese language learning strategies.The first chapter is the introduction part which explains the significance of the research,the harvest of current researches, this paper’s target and methods as well as the researchobjectives. The second chapter introduces the Chinese Education of Thailand and Trat,combined with the author’s practice and research in Thailand during the internships. Itfocuses on introducing the basic Chinese learning and teaching situation of the Trat’sgirls and boys’ high schools, the number of students and the male female student ratio,as well as the Chinese grades and contrast of the girls and boys’ in Trat’s girls highschool. The third chapter introduces the strategy inventory for language learning,combing the relevant research results of the past, and displays the actual research datacollection, analysis and conclusion. The fourth chapter, according to the researchconclusion, analyzes the specific reasons of the survey results and puts forward threetheoretical aspects of teaching guidance, particularly to introduce and apply the learningstrategies in classroom and combined the strategies with certain learning tasks. Thepaper also lists three demonstrations related to the teaching skills in the Chineseclassroom, including the corresponding measures to improve the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Finally, the limitations of the study are described, and thefuture research prospects are looked ahead.The paper has been done through questionnaire, existing research recourses, fieldsurvey data, interviewed information, teaching record and feedback. Combined with thespecific circumstances of Satreeprasertsin School’s Chinese courses in Trat, Thailand,this paper puts forward gender differences’ effects on Chinese learning strategies and itspractical countermeasures.
