In the21st century, a new round of technological revolution sweeping the globeat an unprecedented rate. The application of new knowledge and technology continue tospring up, which not only the era of knowledge economy, but the century of educationchange. In the increasingly fierce international competition, directly responsible for talenttraining, as well as the backbone of the education reform, the teacher was given a moreprofound meaning and responsibility. Therefore, all countries in the world give priority toteachers’ education development status. Australia adapt to the times on the basis of inheritand develop the traditional advantages of teacher education, which conduct acomprehensive reform to teacher education from professional standards, curriculum,certification assessment, teaching methods, etc, and has made remarkable achievements.This article is based on the present, using the teacher education policy as thebreakthrough point. By looking for policies, reports, articles and so on related to teachereducation reform in Australia since the21st century, we can have a systematic and factualknowledge to teacher education reform in Australia, and then sort out the policy direction ofreform and the main content, and further analysis of the effects of reform. The rise of thestate is changed by education. China is in a period of great opportunity, teacher educationreform has become the top priority in the current society. Australia’s successful experienceprovides a useful reference for our teacher education reform.This article is divided into four parts. The first part analyzes the reason of Australia’s teacher education reform from theexogenous thrust and endogenous demand in the21st century, to illustrate the necessity ofthe reform.The second part introduces the theoretical basis and policy support of Australianteacher education reform in the21st century, to emphasize the basis of the reform.The third part analyzes the current situation of Australia’s teacher educationreform from the perspective of a series of policy in the21st century, including policyorientation, reform content and implementation methods, so we can find the execution ofreform.The last part analyzes the effectiveness of the Australia’s teacher educationreform and the challenges it faced, then summed up the experience in Australia andenlightened Chinese teacher education reform in the21st century.
